 | MMAP has been used by more than 200 teachers
and over 40,000 students in five states. During the course of materials
development, field testing was limited to student populations which matched
our target--those who are ethnic or socioeconomic minorities, who are traditionally
under-served by schools. We worked with 38 field test teachers who came
from diverse communities including San Francisco, San Jose, Redwood City,
Alameda, Hayward, and Pleasanton. Together, the populations of these schools
reflect the general population of the state of California, one of the most
diverse states in the US. Our field test sites in Portland, Oregon and Brooklyn,
New York provided a contrasting demographic- -more than 80% were African
American and non-English speaking Caribbean students. |
